International WATERS Workshop

Posted 2025-09-06 in News

As part of its continued support for international collaboration, IEA-OES proudly supported the International WaTERS Workshop, held on the 5th of September 2025 in Madeira, ahead of the European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference (EWTEC). The event was organised by the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC).

The International WATERS workshop brought together representatives from 18 test sites across 10 countries — Australia, Canada, China, Ireland, Korea, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the UK, and the USA — creating a unique opportunity to strengthen global collaboration among those working at the frontlines of offshore renewable energy testing and demonstration.

OES Highlights the Importance of International Collaboration: This workshop exemplifies the collaborative spirit we need to move ocean energy forward - not just through technology, but through people and partnerships that span the globe.

By connecting test site operators and researchers in a focused and interactive setting, the International WaTERS Workshop contributed significantly to global networking, skill development, and shared vision across the sector. OES is proud to support initiatives like International WATERS.
The OES is organised under the auspices of the International Energy Agency (IEA) but is functionally and legally autonomous. Views, findings and publications of the OES do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the IEA Secretariat or its individual member countries.
