The Importance of Cable to the Renewable Energy Sector –or– “It all comes down to Cables and Connectors”

Date: October 07, 2013 at 23:00 GMT

Introduction: The recurring theme in discussions with people regarding renewable projects, particularly in wave and tidal, is that “it all comes down to Cables and Connectors”. Yet the importance of these to the technical, commercial and reliability proposition on a renewable technology are quite often under estimated and left to the final stages of consideration.

Quite often a visionary concept on the installation, operation and maintenance of a renewable technology can be limited by a lack of consideration on the practicalities and costs of how to extract the power and how to connect it all together. In other words “it all comes down to Cables and Connectors”
