International Collaboration and Role of IEA-OES

Date: October 27, 2013 at 18:22 GMT

The Implementing Agreement on Ocean Energy Systems (IEA-OES) has a mission of facilitating and coordinating research, development and demonstration through international co-operation and information exchange, leading to the deployment and commercialisation of sustainable, efficient, reliable, costcompetitive and environmentally sound ocean energy technologies for harnessing all forms of ocean renewable energy resources, such as, tides, waves, currents, thermal gradients, and salinity gradient, to generate electricity as well as for other utilizations. This paper presents the current and future international collaborative activities to enable deployment of ocean energy technologies worldwide.

The OES is organised under the auspices of the International Energy Agency (IEA) but is functionally and legally autonomous. Views, findings and publications of the OES do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the IEA Secretariat or its individual member countries.
